Keiga Dance Company

Keiga Dance Company was founded in 2004 by Jonas Byaruhanga with the aim to provide young people with a platform to express and communicate thoughts and ideas relevant to their daily lives through the performing arts. Having gained a wealth of experience through workshops and collaborations with internationally acclaimed choreographers and teachers, including Germaine Acogny (Senegal), Longa-fo (DRC), Pierre Doussaint (France) Annette Vogel (Germany) Nora Champumire (USA) Elizabeth Cameron (Australia) and Mark Tompkins (France), Jonas was encouraged to build foundations for the development of professional dance and choreography in his home country Uganda.

Keiga Dance Company is currently one of East Africa’s leading contemporary dance companies. Based in Kampala, Uganda, Keiga Dance Company creates and performs a diverse repertoire of contemporary dance fused with the vibrancy of East African dance and culture. Through numerous collaborations with Ugandan as well as international dance artists the company has been able to acquire a unique identity as well as lay claim to one of the most extensive repertoire in Uganda.
