From the heart of Africa comes the novel sound of a rich Panache of music. Tamba brings a typical feel of a cultural genre suffused with a sundry of folklore sounds from across her homeland, Uganda. She was born Sara Mutamba, but has adopted Tamba (as her close friends call her) as her stage name. At a tender age and with her mother’s encouragement and grandmother’s folk influence, she nurtured her love for singing. She sung occasionally in church with two of her younger brothers and in the year 2000 along with them formed the acclaimed gospel acapella group “SALT”. In it’s four – year lifespan soul group performed in churches, weddings and corporate events.
In 2008, she joined afro-jazz band Qwela as a vocalist and songwriter until 2010 when she begun to cultivate her own forte. 2011 Tamba launched her solo career described by her fans as “the small girl with the Big Voice”.
Tamba is a rare gem. Her passion for African sounds has persuaded her music and songwriting into a wealthy blend of authentic African artistry.
