Bayimba Foundation invites 40 talented young women to apply for an intensive scholarship training program in fashion and garment production. Delivered by SEED (Skilled • Expressive • Entrepreneurial • Designers), lead by celebrated designer Ras Kasozi, this program transforms creative passion into professional, export-ready fashion enterprises.

Kampala | Jinja | Mbarara | Buikwe | Mukono | Kayunga | Arua | Kitgum | Moroto | Butaleja | Mbale | Bundibugyo | Fort Portal.
The Program: Studio to Market
The CFGP is a 3-month (12-week) professional training course that bridges the gap between technical tailoring and entrepreneurial success. This is a Competence-Based Education and Training (CBET) program aligned with Uganda’s National TVET Policy.
The Training Modules:
- Module 1: Foundations & Design Thinking: Colour theory, fabric types, and innovation strategies.
- Module 2: Pattern Drafting & Cutting: Mastering body measurements, basic blocks, and pattern manipulation.
- Module 3: Garment Construction: Industrial sewing techniques, seams, and high-end finishing.
- Module 4: Creative Wear & Styling: Production workflow, fittings, and developing signature creative collections.
- Module 5: Financial Literacy & Branding: Costing, marketing, and preparing your professional portfolio for the market.
Training Highlights
- Target: 40 Young Women per cohort.
- Duration: 3 Months (300 Contact Hours).
- Accreditation: Accredited Certificate with 20 Credit Units (CU).
- The Final Showcase: Participants will design and produce a mini-collection for the official SEED (Skilled • Expressive • Entrepreneurial • Designers) closing event, evaluated by industry professionals and join the Uganda International Fashion Week event.
- Career Path: Graduates are prepared for self-employment, joining production cooperatives, or internship placements in innovation hubs.
Eligibility & Entry Requirements
We are looking for young women (18–35) with creative potential and a drive to succeed in the creative economy.
- Residency: Must be a resident of one of the 9 target districts listed above.
- Potential: Selection is based on a skills-based interview and a portfolio review of your creative work (sketches, previous crafts, or sewing samples).
- Inclusion: Special encouragement is given to young women living with disabilities (PWDs) and refugees.

Since 2014, SEED (Skilled • Expressive • Entrepreneurial • Designers) has mentored over 2,000 designers. This scholarship provides:
- Access to Industrial Equipment: Training on industrial straight and overlock machines.
- Cultural Innovation: Learning to use local materials like barkcloth and cotton to create global-standard fashion.
- Industry Mentorship: Direct feedback and guidance from established fashion entrepreneurs.
