Job Description: 

Bayimba Cultural Foundation is a multi-disciplinary arts organization dedicated to fostering creativity, promoting cultural exchange, and enhancing Uganda’s arts scene. The Foundation organizes high-quality arts festivals, training programs, and workshops, aiming to connect diverse audiences to the world of arts and culture. 

We are seeking a motivated Communication and Marketing Intern to support the development and implementation of Bayimba’s communication and marketing strategies. The successful candidate will assist in promoting Lunkulu Island’s programs, Bayimba’s festivals and events, and other cultural initiatives, helping enhance the foundation’s visibility and outreach. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about arts and culture and looking to grow their skills in communication, marketing, and media relations. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the design and implementation of communication strategies to promote Lunkulu Island’s programs via advertisements, public relations, and social media. 
  • Collaborate with the team to create and execute marketing strategies for Bayimba’s cultural programs and festivals. 
  • Support content creation for social media, newsletters, and other promotional platforms. 
  • Assist with media relations, drafting press releases, and managing external communications. 
  • Participate in promoting and covering Bayimba events, workshops, and festivals to increase audience engagement. 
  • Monitor the success of marketing campaigns and provide data-driven insights for continuous improvement. 
  • Build relationships with key partners, sponsors, and artists to strengthen Bayimba’s presence. 
  • Support MasterCard Foundation-funded projects focused on educating Ugandans in arts and culture. 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, Marketing, or related field (or currently pursuing studies). 
  • Strong interest in the arts and culture industry. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with a team. 

Terms and Conditions: 

  • Hours: Full time 
  • Contract Type: Internship (6 months) 
  • Probation: 2 months
